Slip Away Farm is a small-scale vegetable and flower farm located on Chappaquiddick, a little island separated from Martha’s Vineyard by a 527-foot ferry ride. We recognize and honor that the land we farm is the ancestral and contemporary homeland of the Chappaquiddick Wampanoag tribe.
Slip Away Farm is a woman-owned business, started by Lily Walter in 2012.
Lily grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and followed her family to Martha's Vineyard in 2004 after her father became the editor for the Vineyard Gazette. During her college years, Lily spent her summers farming at Morning Glory Farm in Edgartown, eventually returning year-round as the field crew manager there.
She dreamed of starting her own farm and managed to win an affordable agricultural lease for Slip Away Farm through Martha's Vineyard Land and Martha's Vineyard Preservation Trust.
The farm has changed in many ways over the years, but our mission has stayed clear: to grow high-quality vegetables and flowers for our Chappaquiddick community.
Our farm stand is located in the original Chappaquiddick Schoolhouse and is open in season Wednesday - Saturday. In addition to our farm stand, we offer full-service event floral design work and seasonal flower shares. Learn more about our flower offerings here.
